Result of the PCL. Reconstruction with BPTB (Prognostic Factors)
Schech, Joseph M.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic factors affecting the result after operative treatment of PCL injury by reviewing the cases of PCL reconstrution with BPTB.
Thirty six PCL reconstructions were done at our institution during the period from january 1989 to October 1993, of which twenty six cases with mean follow-up of twenty one months(ragne:twelve-five months) were included for analysis and the
results were as follows;
1. By Muller¢¥s scoring system, the results in isolated injured group were excellent in four, good in five, and fair in two, while they were excellent in one, good in seven, fair in four and poor in three cases in combined injury group.
2. Analysis according to the subjective scoring by the patients showen two excellent, five good, three fair and one poor results in isolated injured group, while it showed four good, six fair and five poor results in combined injury group.
3. It seemed that more time was needed for the recovery of knee function after operation in combined injured group than in isolated injured group.
4. The clinical results after the treatment of combined injured cases seemed to be influenced by such factors as the severity of associated injury, the timing of operation, the occurrence of complication and the quality of rehabilitation.
5. The location of tibial tunnel didn¢¥t seem to affect the clinical result.
From the above, it is construed that the clinical success after reconstruction of PCL depends on the type of injury, the timing of operation and the occurrence of complication. However, the location of tibial tunnel does not seem to have bearing
on clinical result.
